BJP alleges Ram Navami violence in Kolkata, targets TMC and Mamata Banerjee; Police react

NEW DELHI: The West Bengal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Celebration (BJP) on Sunday alleged Hindu devotees carrying saffron flags had been “savagely attacked” in Kolkata’s Park Circus space whereas getting back from a Ram Navami procession. The Kolkata Police, nonetheless, denied that any such procession befell.

Windshields shattered. Chaos unleashed,” West Bengal BJP president and Union minister Sukanta Majumdar mentioned in a publish on X. Kolkata Police react
Responding to the allegations, Kolkata Police issued a press release saying, “No permission was taken for any procession at Park Circus, and no such procession was taken out.”
The police acknowledged receiving details about injury to a automobile and mentioned they intervened promptly to revive order. “A case is being registered to research the matter. The general public is suggested to not heed any rumours,” the assertion added.
